2 Vintage US Military ARC 5 radio WE BC455B Colonial BC946B works* & rack mount

Description

For auction is a lot of two vintage, WWII era US Military ARC5 radio sets and a vintage, period ARC5 radio rack/mount. Item(s) being sold as found and has not been cleaned, cleaning will be left to the winning bidder if they choose to do so. Item(s) is from a smoke free home. Please see all pictures as they are part of this description. Items are in excellent overall condition, considering their age. Items both do show some areas with wear/age, but each appear to have no major damage. Included in this lot is a WE (Western Electric) BC-455-B and a Colonial Radio Corp BC-946-B; both in which were found mounted on an ARC5 radio rack/mount which is also included. The BC-946-B radio in this lot appears to be in better overall cosmetic condition than the BC-455-B. Please note, the last two pictures as each radio was briefly tested with a homemade power supply and each radio did pass sound with a minimal antenna used as also shown at the top of picture twelve. (works*) No other testing was done. Please note picture five which displays all US Military stamped dates/markings and each radios ID plates are present and intact. Please also note pictures four and six as both items were found with all of their tubes present and intact as well as their functioning original top covers. (tubes untested) Each item is free from any loose particles inside it's metal cabinet. Each item has not been opened up any further than what the pictures indicate. Both tuning knobs do move their dials both ways correctly. Both radios appear to not have original knobs, but the knobs found with each set do function. As previously mentioned and shown, both radios were found with all tubes present and all tubes are included as shown. The ARC5 radio metal rack/mount is intact, but includes no label and/or ID plate on it's side(s). The rack/mount does fit each of the included radios and screws down to keep them in and stationary. Each radio does not fall out and/or move. (IE when being tuned) With radios correctly screwed in, the rack/mount and both radios can be flipped over and neither radio budges or fails to stay in place. The rack/mount is intact and in good overall condition, but not in mint condition as it does show signs of use and wear/age. Either way, this ARC5 radio rack/mount does what it needs to and keeps each radio fastened to it. The rack/mount does still have both original, front side TRANS. NO. plates present and intact. Although this lot is being sold for parts/repair, it is apparent that both radios have much potential with a little TLC. Only what is shown in picture one is included in this auction. There is no antenna and no power supply included as these homemade pieces were only used for brief testing. These vintage US Military ARC 5 type radios are getting harder to find in decent condition, this lot of two will make a great addition to your military radio station set up and/or WWII related collection.
