MAGNIFICENT ANTIQUE BRONZE BUDDHIST ALTAR STATUE
Spectacular and highly detailed cast bronze Buddhist stele. Depicts a seated Buddha. At the base, a central offering bowl is flanked by an elephant and a monkey, along with two lively monkeys. The bowl would have originally been used to offer fire, incense, or sacred water, and is rarely seen incorporated into these antique bronze statues.
The ornate nature of this altarpiece is nothing short of spectacular. S
eated Buddhas of various sizes and postures sit upon lotuses and thrones. Fabulous flaming nagas, cast with hundred of minute scales, wrap along the upper edges of the altarpiece and surround the main upper Buddha. Intermingled throughout are birds, squirrels, and Buddhist accouterments.
Approximately 15.5 inches tall, and 7.5 inches wide.
