Antique Burmese Wood-Carved Figure of 'King Hsinbyushin', Mandalay Period, Myanmar, 19th C.
    xxxxxx
    King of Ava.
    Description:
An amazing 19th century wood carved Burmese Architectural Temple Element of a principle figure in Burmese history, King Hsinbyushin, modelled in traditional Mandalay style, from auspicious teakwood, standing in a strong frontal pose on an ornately carved base, slightly errect with the right foot resting on a column, while holding his sword with the right hand, elaborately dressed in royal military attire, decorated with elaborate floral flanges, and draped with central crest. The placement of the left hand rest against his thigh, which would have previously held a sacrificial sword. The figure is well proportioned in typical Mandalay fashion with a highly detailed face, open eyes, ridged eyebrows, long nose. He wears a Burmese style military helmet decorated with the king's crown painted in gold, and ornate finial.
