Description:
Presented for your consideration is this interesting antique coin op penny scale. The scale has a white porcelain enameled body with a large dial and multicolor tiled weighing platform. The large dial has dark orange numbers against a brown background around the outer edge with a mirror in the center of the dial. At the top of the machine is a coin insert slot. Accepts pennies. Would have originally been found in a penny arcade or drug store. The reflection in the mirror is still pretty clear even though there are a few small wear spots on it. Just above the platform is the original name plaque which reads "Peerless Weighing Machine Company Detroit." The original cash box is intact and is located on the bottom of the right side of the scale. It was taped in place at one time but the tape could be removed. At the time of listing the scale is in WORKING condition. Guaranteed to be old. Dates to the 1920s. This neat scale would make a great addition to any coin op or penny arcade memorabilia collection!
There are some small wear spots on the mirror. Numbers on the scale are hard to see but looks to be from the way it was made. Some crazing of the porcelain is present on and around the platform. There are two surface chips in the enamel on the front and two on the cash box.  Typical wear from age and use. Overall in GOOD-VERY GOOD condition for its age. Measures 20" deep, 12" wide at the weighing platform, 18" at the dial and 72" tall.
