Antique SMP (Sheet Metal Products) Blue & White Granite Ware Washboard Primitive
The Washboard has a granite ware washing surface.
The Washboard is marked:
"SMP (inside a maple leaf)  (HOT GALVANIZED)  FOR STRENGTH AND DURABILITY  MADE IN CANADA  THE SHEET METAL PRODUCTS OF CANADA  LIMITED".   (not all of the writing is easily readable).  The "SM &P are printed in red.
Not for the perfectionist but for the lover of time worn shabby chic beauty!
!!!SOLD AS IS!!!
Used condition.  There are the normal scruffs & scratches to the washboard.  The washboard was heavily used on the prairie as can be seen by the extreme wear.  There are stains, soiling, & soap residue due to lots of use.  Most of the granite ware is worn off the ribs of the scrubbing surface.  There are a few spots of yellow paint.  There is a crack in the wooden back plate.  A slat of wood is missing from the back where wood is covering the scrubbing surface.  There are hairline cracks in the wood slats.  Looks like a "critter" may have chewed on the bottom bar underneath the scrubbing surface.  For all the flaws, the washboard is sturdy!  Needs to be cleaned &/or refinished, if desired.
Approximate Measurements:  12" x 23.75".
Condition:  Used condition with wear consistent with age & use.  Other conditions are listed above.  Please look at photos for accurate account of condition.  Use zoom feature to see flaws prior to bidding.
