  • Detailed Description: See Below
  • Condition: This is not a real banknote but rather a fantasy or PsyOp banknote issued most likely the US Military or the CIA or possibly some other anti Saddam forces as a call to the people of Iraq to revolt against Saddam and work on toppling him and his regime. The date and place of issue are uncertain and it is unclear whether or not the note was circulated at all. We are selling this note as a curiosity with the realization that this was not an officially issued Iraqi banknote for circulation. I would grade the banknote as crisp uncirculated with all the details being well preserved. The note has no folds, tears, creases, pinholes, wear, soling or graffiti. It is clean, crisp with sharp squared corners. The note's colors are a bit faded and it is badly trimmed. It has no obvious wear commensurate with its uncirculated status. Please see photo for additional condition information.

    Details
    Description:
A very unusual and interesting banknote. The bank note is similar to the 25 dinar issued in 1986 by the central bank of Iraq and displays the bust of Saddam Hussein in military uniform to the right of the front. The front also shows charging horsemen in the center. This front is similar to Pick 73. However, the back of the note has a revolutionary message which roughly translates as follows:
"Money in Iraq is worthless, there is no food and no rest or happiness. Today in Iraq only thirst, hunger, and death are to be found, Saddam Hussein is the one responsible for all of this. You must work against Saddam's regime and on the his demise"
This is obviously an illegally printed banknote that was issued most likely by the US military or the CIA during the Desert Storm War in 1991 or the Iraq invasion in 2003 as part of the Psychological Operations against Saddam Hussein. This is a very interesting fantasy or Psy-Op banknote that is very seldom seen. The note of course has no watermark and is a bit faded in colors although it is obviously uncirculated. We are selling this note as a curiosity with the realization that this was not an officially issued Iraqi banknote for circulation. Please carefully review scans as they are part and parcel of our description.
    Date:
Uncertain but the note is dated 1986.
    Printer:
    Unknown.
    Size:
    Measures ~6 3/4" by ~3".
    Pick Number:
Unlisted in Karuse Standard Catalog of World Paper Money. The note is similar to Pick 73 in Krause's World Paper Money Catalog.
