Rare Plate with Santola Caldas da Rainha XIX 23 cm
Ancient and interesting plate from Caldas da Rainha decorated, relief and polychrome with Santola.
Measures: 23 cm diameter
The first factory in Caldas was born from a project by Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro, with the support of his friend Ramalho Ortigão, his sister Maria Augusta and his brother Feliciano Bordalo Pinheiro in 1884
In excellent condition, well worked. Drained painting with a large spider crab that occupies almost the whole of the dish, with very interesting details, each foot buried in plants, an open bestiary in a marine plant and spheres.
What is different is the size of the spider crab which is the same as the dishes of this style with 30 cm or bigger. The spider crab is accented in pebbles to imitate sand, and all the coloring of the plate is highlighted, and behind you can see the antiquity of it.
