You are viewing aSet of 4 Wooden Dogwood Round Buttons
. These measure about 7/8" across and 3/16" thick. Each button has 2 holes for attaching.
These buttons have been made from branches of Dogwood, Red Osler or Roughleaf. The shrubs are easily recognized in winter because of their red twigs, which make a sharp contrast to the snow. The common name, Dogwood, comes, not from the animal, but from the Old English word Dagge, meaning dagger, since this very hard wood was used to make butchers' skewers. The wood was also used to make shuttle blocks for weaving looms.
The buttons have been finished with a water-resistant coating to reduce the chances of damage when washed. If washed, use cold to lukewarm water and a mild detergent and do not dry in the dryer or touch with a hot iron.
