Siesta Ware South of the Border Dillon SC Amber Glass Wood Handle Mug – Vintage

Up for auction is a South of the Border Siesta Ware mug made by Benner Glass Company.
It features Pedro playing his guitar next to a cactus, SOUTH OF THE BORDER over a sombrero on a rug SOUTH CAROLINA, and a burro next to a cactus. This glass mug is almost 5 inches tall, 2 ½ inches in diameter at the top, holds 15 fluid ounces and weighs 9 ¾ ounces.
On the bottom in raised letters it says Siesta Ware and the number 1.
The condition is nice and vintage with some minor scratches on the metal band.
According to my research, Benner Glass Company has been in business since 1954 and their Siesta Ware trademark was registered from 1964 to 1985.
Anyone who has driven to Florida on I95 is surely familiar with South of the Border, just over the South Carolina line.
With its sombrero tower and giant Pedro, you can’t miss it!
It opened in 1949 as a small beer stand.
A grille was soon added, then motel rooms in 1954 and it kept on growing.
