Description
Film played in projector all the way through in projector on first try. Film is about 3 minutes 10 seconds long. The film has a vinegar smell and some of the film is grainy but no warping of film. This is standard 8mm format.Film progresses as follows:
-30 seconds of a person dressed in a military uniform coming out of a house with a women. They then stand in the street posing for the camera and greet another person.
-20 second of many military people in uniform gathered on the sidewalk in casual conversation. Some people (not in military uniforms) are holding Hawaiian type wreaths.
-40 seconds showing the same 2 people that came out of the house in the first part of the film wearing Hawaiian wreaths and someone puts on a couple more wreaths on them
-The last 1 minute 40 seconds shows the military ship (USS Republic) departing and large number of military people and people dressed in wreaths on the the deck of the ship waving as the ship departs. Wording on the ship reads “Republic”
From the brief research I did, the Republic was decommissioned in 1945. It was both a Army and Navy ship at different points in time. Not sure the date the film was shot but the Republic was a troop transport during WW2.
