This listing is for the pictured
vintage coin operated gas meter manufactured by the Maryland Meter Corporation and was
placed in service by the Seattle Gas Appliance Company. Synthetic gas was first appeared in Seattle in 1873 with the first coin
operated meters appearing in the late eighteen hundreds. These meters were primarily used in apartments. The coin mechanism
accepts both a penny and a
dime.
