Beautifully finished wood carving of a Padaung woman wearing neck rings by an artist of Inle Lake Myanmar
The Padaung (meaning long neck) Kayan tribe of Northern Thailand are on the decrease along with the practice of elongated necks using neck rings, making this superbly finished wood carving quite unique. The carving comes from the markets of Inle Lake in Myanmar as she is signed on the back of her head with a symbol which originates from an artist who works in Inle Lake. It’s been superbly finished and is a fine example of indigenous wood carving art.
