    Description

Melodyland was a theater in Anaheim, California down the street from Disneyland that opened in 1963 as a theater and concert venue that operated independently until it was purchased by a local church in 1969.  The venue was demolished in 2009.
While it was open as a theater, Melodyland hosted a number of popular shows that had appeared on Broadway.  Often there was a star of some note as the lead while local talent was added in minor roles or as extras.
I have a number of souvenir programs of theater presentations starting in late 1964 and continuing until early 1967. Many also include the playbill. Apart from the performers who performed on stage, these programs promoted Las Vegas heavily and the graphics design-wise reflect the mid- Century styling of the 1960s.
Juliet Prowse performed in this production of "Irma La Douce" on a nationwide tour beginning in 1963, I believe she performed in the role at this site in 1964. For any Juliet Prowse fans, the program features a nice two-page spread on her.
